Independent Contract Interpreters are responsible for providing consecutive interpretation services over-the-phone from an at-home office.  They must have training and experience necessary to provide accurate and complete interpretation, be able to pass an interpretation assessment test and conduct themselves according to the ethical and professional guidelines and best practices as outlined both by TransPerfect and the larger profession.  Successful Independent Contractor Interpreters will be expected to provide excellent customer service, communicate all information and ideas clearly and accurately, and respond to any feedback provided from monitoring.

  • Documents all coaching/development sessions in a timely manner including corrective actions and performance improvement plans.
  • Interaction with cross-functional support groups in order to manage the day-to-day operations.
  • Responsible for all daily administrative duties (e.g., time card administration, payroll, etc.) as required.

  • Deliver service and support to client inquiries, concerns, requests about products and services by gathering customer’s information, determining the issue, evaluating, analyzing the symptoms, diagnose and resolve application related issues by researching required information using available resources; following up and make scheduled call backs to customers where necessary, stay updated with system information, changes and updates.
  • Follow standard service level agreements, processes and procedures. Offer alternative solutions where appropriate with the objective of retaining customers’ and clients’ business, offering best customer service experience.
  • Sound knowledge of the TI application to assist team members with application and client/s specific process queries.
  • Identify and escalate priority issues as per client specifications to appropriate resources.
  • Accurately process and record the transactions in the helpdesk ticketing system.
  • Owning escalated, on chase, breached cases for quick restore, fulfillment.
  • Escalation point for support team members, reporting observed errors, gaps. Ownership of handovers, its distribution for work prioritization, till closure.

Contract Assessment Raters lead the execution of Language Proficiency Assessments and Specialized Interpreter Proficiency Assessments. Assessment Raters will determine language ability by conducting Oral Proficiency Interviews with candidates that include a series of carefully designed and executed questions to determine a candidate’s verbal proficiency in English and/or their other working language and/or evaluate candidate’s ability to interpret between the languages being evaluated.

  • Conducts Oral Proficiency Interviews by asking interpreter candidates a series of carefully designed questions that gradually increase in complexity.
  • Evaluates how accurately candidates can speak the language according to TransPerfect Remote Interpreting protocols and procedures.
  • Accurately rates candidates based on the ILR scale (Inter-Agency Language Roundtable), which is the way in which US Federal agencies define and refers to language ability.
  • Collaborates with the Testing, Training, and Quality Department to ensure a consistent approach to testing process implementation for the most accurate and reliable results and to maintain compliance with all relevant guidelines, regulations, and objectives.
  • Ensures that assessments occur in the most consistent and reliable fashion.
  • Ensures testing data is properly compiled, organized, presented, and utilized in the most accurate and effective manner.
  • Contributes to assessment translation efforts and research and translation projects as necessary.
