Media Project Coordinator - Transcriptionist (English native level)

  • Pre-production: Pre-flight of audio and video projects. Reviewing audio and video files.  Proper vendor selection.  Scheduling voice talent, studios, video editors and subtitling technicians or suppliers.  Providing concise and effective project instructions to all necessary parties.
  • Post-production:  Audio/video editing.
  • Basic audio editing competency and ability to convert audio files to required formats.  Completing a thorough and accurate Final Ear to look for mistakes in audio and video files prior to delivering projects.
  • Be responsible for the entire life-cycle of all projects assigned to the individual.
  • Juggle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understand and abide by individual project instructions.
  • Liaise with sales staff to clarify project parameters.
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with voice talent and vendors worldwide.
  • Negotiate rates and deadlines with vendors to maximize profitability and project completion speed.
  • Coordinate with quality personnel to ensure that the translation perfectly complies with instructions and is linguistically perfect.
  • Communicate any issues/problems/caveats or additional.
  • Distribute information to sales staff as soon as that information is available.
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned by a manager.
  • Typing (most of the time): either from an audio file, tape (using a transcription machine), or by simultaneous transcription while being dictated to in person.
  • Research words/concepts/facts: using dictionaries, online dictionaries or Google.
  • Data entry: typing numbers, names, addresses from the source document.
  • Formatting in Microsoft Word (e.g. tables, organizational charts, etc.).
  • Occasionally pre-translation preparation of documents: printing and labeling source files.
  • Using the search function to look for old documents that we might be able to copy text from (e.g. similar text, formatted tax forms, etc.).
  • Spell checking external transcription vendor’s work.
  • Reviewing inaudible portions from external transcription vendor’s work.
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned by a manager.



Essential skills and experience required

  • Native level written and verbal English communication skills
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Project management or other proven corporate work experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management
  • Satisfactory results on company test
  • Prior translation industry or multimedia localization experience a plus
