The Sr. System Engineer position is responsible for the smooth functioning of all hardware, software, peripherals, and server infrastructure necessary to provide efficient and effective computer resources to customer and employee stakeholders. An incumbent provides day-to-day support, maintenance, software/hardware installation, monitoring/reporting, and problem resolution of servers. Tasks are multiple and varied and are performed within the scope of general company policies, procedures and objectives in a regulated environment. The Sr. System Engineer should be passionate about the evolution of systems infrastructure and virtualization technologies to help drive future advancements.


  • Lead efforts to provide secure, stable, highly available and scalable solutions on various Linux distributions including hosted, clustered, virtualized environments and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Design, implement, configure, and administer Linux (primarily) and Windows (when necessary) operating systems to support various applications and services
  • Design, implement, configure, and administer mission critical physical and virtual servers, DNS, and AWS infrastructure
  • Proactively and continuously monitor system performance to assist with the identification of potential issues and future design improvements
  • Troubleshoot problems and seek out and resolve issues. Escalate issues when necessary, involve and work with other engineers and/or stakeholders
  • Maintain highly available, high quality, healthy systems for production and development environments
  • Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning, testing and implementation
  • Contribute to architecture and infrastructure related policy and documentation
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends to deal with outages and maintenance windows
  • Be part of a collaborative team, sharing knowledge openly and honestly, with a positive attitude


Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technologies or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
  • 5 or more years of experience supporting enterprise production level Linux environments
  • Experience supporting Software Release Management
