• Manager, Documentation & Training

  • Responsibilities is seeking a Manager for the Technology Trainer/Writer team (based out of Boulder), who will be responsible for managing the team of writers and trainers, as well as conducting and/or coordinating application trainings, eLearning courses, online helps, user guides, and other technical documentation. You will work with your manager and team members on the vision for trainings and documentation on all products that we develop, and the execution and implementation of the vision.


    Position Responsibilities:

    • Manage the global team of Technical Writers, Trainers, and eLearning Designer/Developer
    • Hire new team members when needed
    • Work with your manager and team members on the vision and future direction for user guides, online help, and eLearning courses
    • Ensure delivery of professional quality deliverables on time and in budget
    • Plan work based on provided scope information, and provide estimates and status updates
    • Be able to assist with writing, editing, and maintaining documentation for multiple outputs using a single-source XML based CMS system
    • Manage review workflows using hosted and online review platforms
    • Organize material to create outlines and drafts
    • Design, create, and push live online help
    • Be able to perform trainings on applications that we develop
    • Proactively address or communicate challenges, concerns, and process improvements
    • Maintain style and design guides and ensure they are followed in trainings and in documentation
    • Contribute to team knowledge base and resources, such as glossaries and processes
    • Proactively address or communicate challenges, concerns, and process improvements.
    • Perform other special projects or duties when required


    • Bachelor’s degree in communications or technology preferred
    • Minimum 5 years of technical writing and training experience, preferably in a related technical field.
    • Proven ability to plan and implement content development projects from start to finish
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Expert knowledge of DITA
    • Knowledge of Web Design, Web Development, UNIX servers, bash, and Online Help Systems
    • Knowledge of eLearning tools
    • Understanding of and experience with component content management systems
    • Solid understanding of topic-based authoring and information mapping concepts as they relate to DITA
    • Very familiar with writing in a structured authoring environment.
    • Comfortable working with content management systems (CMS)
    • Familiarity with desktop publishing tools is a plus, especially bitmap and vector image editing tools
    • Ability to work well with engineers and programmers, find information sources, and quickly understand complex technical subjects
    • Solid experience with at least one content development toolset used in a professional publication development environment
    • Ability to work independently and with teams
    • Creative self-starter with a strong work ethic
