  • Responsibilities

    We are looking for 2 Contract Technical Writers to update documents for a client in the electronic-circuit industry:


    • One to create an SOP regarding the R&D-to-Production process
      • Ideally the writer will have experience with semiconductor‐industry quality process
      • The writer will collaborate with the client process owner(s), recommend best practices, and implement review feedback
      • Will likely will need to spend some time on-site at client location in San Diego
    • One to create an SOP regarding the change control process for the quality system
      • Ideally the writer will have quality system expertise
      • The writer will collaborate with the client process owner(s), recommend best practices, and implement review feedback

    ** Work will be done remotely - there is potential for visits to client site in Southern California **


    *** The project will take place in October and November 2018 (but could potentially start the end of September). ***





    • Deliver professional quality deliverables on time and in budget.
    • Plan work based on provided scoping information.
    • Work directly with client, developers, and products to gather content.
    • Organize material to create outlines and drafts.
    • Write new content, and edit existing content.
    • Match defined editorial standards.
    • Use existing templates to create layouts matching defined design standards.
    • Work well with team members on the development and publications teams, and possibly others.
    • Contribute to team knowledge and resources such as glossaries and processes.
    • Provide estimates and status updates.
    • Proactively address or communicate challenges, concerns, and process improvements.
    • Other tasks as required.


    • Minimum 5 years of technical writing experience, preferably in a related technical field.
    • Proven ability to plan and implement content development projects from start to finish.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to work well with engineers and programmers, find information sources, and quickly understand complex technical subjects.
    • Solid experience with at least one content development toolset used in a professional publication development environment.
    • Ability to work independently and with teams.
    • Creative self-starter with a strong work ethic.
    • Bachelor’s degree in communications or technology preferred.
